Recognizing that society needs to better understand the major environmental and climate changes that are occurring due to human activities as well as natural processes, the U.S. Congress established the U.S. Global Change Research Program in 1990, with the goal of coordinating research activities of 13 federal agencies to research, assess, and develop strategies and solutions to mitigate climate and environmental change that impact society and Earth systems and to submit annual reports of their achievements and progress in meeting long-term goals to congress, the President, and the American people. Those reports, as well as scientific assessments of climate change can be found as PDFs on the Publications section of their website.
