Professor will contact students to establish course schedule....................Mathematical models will be formulated and applied tosimulate water flow and chemical transport in soil andgroundwater systems. Soil spatial variability andheterogeneity will be considered in the modeling processes.Using and comparing models, students will obtain thecapability to transfer a physical problem to a mathematicalmodel, to use numerical methods, such as the finiteelement method, to solve the mathematical problem, andto correctly interpret the numerical outputs. Studentswill develop and program numerical solutions for selectproblems and will utilize existing codes for modeling avariety of comprehensive problems. Cross listed withMATH 5110.
