Discrete Structures : COSC-2300-80 / MATH-2300-80
Discrete structures, also known as discrete mathematics, is a very broad subject, encompassing the parts of logic, sets, functions, lists, trees, counting, and probability that are commonly used in computer science. The approach we will take is more abstract and formal than any of the computer science courses you may have taken previously; the abstraction and rigor are comparable to what you may see in a "transition" course in mathematics, i.e., one that introduces you to the notion of proof.
