Fall 2020 FYS: Decision Making in Sports (ECON-1101-02)
Examine critical thinking, ethical reasoning, basics offinancial literacy and career planning. In addition, youwill develop the skills to be successful in college. Wewill investigate how the factors in decision-making byconsumers, firms, financial institutions, and employees.Examples of the research we will explore include: aperson’s level of honesty, the determinants of happinessand success, the predictability and rationality of peopleand institutions, and the impact of social media ondecisions.

STEP 1102 is designed to provide skills which equip you to interact with the UW campus resources, staff, and faculty; to learn about tools for academic support and wellness; explore academic and co-curricular opportunities; to incorporate personal talents and passions into major and career selection; and to encourage personal reflection of the many new experiences encountered as a first-year student on campus. This section is taught by a College of Health Sciences advisor (but open to all majors).

Fall 2020 Methods I - Art Ed Studio (ART-3430-01)
Students investigate ways to translate art making practices and media into K-12 arts curricula and develop effective approaches to teaching these to the K-12 learner. Students create and teach lesson plans based on what they learn through their explorations; they also create their own artwork inspired by their studio investigations. Restricted to junior class standing. Prerequisite: ART 2000.

Fall 2020 Methods II - Artistic Growth (ART-4440-40)
Students incorporate their understanding of the stages of artistic development with essential components of curriculum design to create lesson plans that engage the K-12 student in student-directed, holistic learning in the visual arts. Another component of the course is professional practice that includes classroom management and preparing professional portfolios. Prerequisites: ART 3430 and ART 3490.

Fall 2020 Art in the Elementary School (EDEL-3170-02)
Provides a foundation for understanding art in order to facilitate the teaching of art and the integration of art education into the elementary school curriculum. Involves both applied reading and studio production. Attention is given to development of artistic skills and meaningful art experiences based on DBAE principles. Prerequisites: junior classification, 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA.
