    Third-semester course primarily for majors in physics, astronomy, engineering, mathematics, and other sciences. Includes Gaussian Optics and matrix calculations, wave equations, interference, superposition principle, elementary Fourier Analysis, Fraunhofer and Fresnel Diffraction, application to optical instruments.   • Fall 2019 - Gen Field Geology (GEOL-2080-01)

    Covers basic concepts of geology and field techniques emphasizing interpretation of geologic features in the field and constructing geologic products (e.g. measured sections and geologic maps). Students are expected to be able to identify the common rock forming minerals and common rocks in hand-sample. Weekly field trip required. Prerequisites: GEOL 1100 and at least one other GEOL course.     Develops student competencies in persuasive argument in its written, oral, and digital dimensions. Students participate in a series of debate exercises that draw upon digital research, written speech and message composition, and extemporaneous oral speaking.
